The Dictionary of Native American Mythology is an A-Z collection of myths and rituals of the Native American peoples spanning from Northern Mexico to the Arctic Circle. It's quite a fascinating reference book containing entries ranging from symbols, mythical beasts, heroic humans, spirits, healing rites, rain ceremonies, and a variety of other topics.

Besides the vast amount of content, the book is also quite resourceful, not only cross listing similar entries but also referencing everything. Each entry lists the tribe it is associated with and their location. There is an extensive Bibliography and an Index referencing entries by tribe.

If you're looking for an overview of Native American culture, you'll find this book very helpful. If you have a background in Native American culture, you'll find this book to be a great quick reference resource.
